Arena X round 4 Birmingham

The Genting Arena (formerly LG) at Birmingham NEC was the venue for round 4 of the UK Arena X series.

This was the local race of the tour for the Midland based ‘Geartec Suzuki’ team.

Qualifying heats saw both riders make it through with a direct transfer to the main final, but also was the first time that either rider had made it to the top 8 qualifying position which puts the riders in the head to head races.

Greg’s first match up saw him go down in the first turn so suffered a first race elimination. Elliott was to fare much better and following success in his first two contests, he lined up against series leader, Thomas Ramette, for the final showdown. Elliott rode a stunning 1 lap encounter to take the head to head win and score 4 well earned and valuable championship points.

Elliott’s confidence was high lining up for the evenings highlight race, the 12 lap Pro final. Looking like he was going to exit turn one in 2nd place, he was cannoned into by another rider which put him on the ground and clearly last. Greg had made a poor start for him and along with Elliott had work to do. Both made progress but not at the rate they wished for. A frustrating 8th for Elliott and a 10th for Greg was a disappointing result after the early promise.

Rob Hooper: “Good qualifying for both riders, great head to head for Elliott, but just failed to gain the results either rider deserved in the final. Elliott has moved up a place in the championship and the ‘Geartec Suzuki’ team have also made progress in the team championship table”.
